Saskatchewan Fireworks Competition 2010

Ruggieri Rural Takes the Trophy

Sunday, August 1st, 2010, was an exciting evening for Ruggieri Fireworks and Special Effects – Rural Division.  They took the trophy for the “Living Skies Come Alive Saskatchewan Fireworks Competition”.  This is the second year the fireworks event has been a two evening competition, but Moosomin Lake is no stranger to fireworks.

Jeff Tholl, the head of the rural division of Ruggieri Fireworks and Special Effects, has been doing fireworks shows at Moosomin Regional Park for over 10 years.  In the beginning years, donations were taken at the gate, to offset the cost of the fireworks displays.  Every year donations grew, so his shows grew, as well.

Having travelled to Sherbrooke, QB., to work with Ruggieri Fireworks and Special Effects (from Regina) at “La Fete du Lac des Nations”, Jeff knew what a wonderful experience a pyromusical competition could be.  He took this idea to the park committee to ponder. As the single nights of fireworks got larger, the idea of the competition blossomed.

In the summer of 2008, a committee was set up, and a budget was created.  In 2009, the first Saskatchewan Fireworks Competition took place.  The 2009 winner was Archangel Fireworks from Winnipeg, but this year, Ruggieri Fireworks and Special Effects, of Regina, SK., received the trophy, having put on a wonderful show titled “Light Up the Sky”.

Jeff Tholl continues to organize the rural crew to work this event, and Rodrigo Ruggieri – owner of Ruggieri Fireworks and Special Effects – provides fireworks production management and is technical director for this event.   Jeff and Rodrigo collaborate with one another frequently throughout the year, to get everything in order.  Both men are very proud of how the event has grown and that they were the minds behind this pyromusical competition.  Their love for painting the sky is mutual, and it is evident in the energy they put into this event.

Congratulations Ruggieri Fireworks and Special Effects: Rural Division on a job well done!
